Born and raised in Wabasha, Minnesota, John Wodele
(pronounced “Woodley”) served three terms as
the historic river town’s mayor during the
1970s.
Wodele has thirteen years of experience in the private
sector as co-owner and president of Wabasha
Transfer, Inc.
In 1984, he joined the Ramsey County
Attorney’s Office as manager of media, criminal
justice policy, legislative relations, and
eventually, chief of staff.
In 1992, Wodele successfully coordinated the Minnesota
primary and general election campaign for Bill
Clinton. He
was later was appointed by President Clinton to
the Federal Home Loan Bank on which he served for
six years.
While living in Minneapolis, Wodele served eight years as a
Minneapolis planning commissioner and ran
unsuccessfully as mayor for Minneapolis in 1993.
More recently, he is best known for his role as key
advisor and spokesperson for former Minnesota
Governor Jesse Ventura and as a talk-radio host on
AM 1500, KSTP in St. Paul, MN.
Currently, Wodele is a writer, speaker and public relations
consultant.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, School of
Mass Communication, Wodele has three adult
children, all of whom live and work in
Minneapolis.
He lives in the Twin Cities suburb of White
Bear Lake with his wife, Ramsey County Attorney
Susan Gaertner.
